The BSE Sensex closed 198.76 points, or 0.70 per cent, higher at 28,439, while the 50-share Nifty50 reclaimed the psychological 8,800 mark in Monday’s trade. The 50-share index closed 60.10 points, or 0.69 per cent, up at 8,801.

Sugar stocks sweetened: Shares of the sugar companies surged up to 14 per cent on Monday after prices of sweetener climbed to a nearly six-year high at the wholesale market on tight stock positions amid speculative buying by stockists and bulk consumers.
